"Nyuh?" Jessica blurted out, being caught off guard by her name being called. It was Cairo, standing just behind the gate to a park. Kal was there, too. "Oh, hi!" She yelled back, and started on her way towards them. She reached the gate rather quickly, as it was no great distance there. "Wow, what're you two doing up?" Jessica asked. "Couldn't sleep." The two answered, synchronised. "And, you? You're usually not up 'till much later." Cairo said. "Heh, same thing... I went to bed too early, thus waking up too early. Bought some new clothes, obviously!" She said. (Since she didn't buy a shirt for under the hoodie, she simply wore one of her dark purple ones. Not like much of it was showing, anyways.) "Heh, cool." Cairo said, him and Kal quickly jumping the gate. "Thanks... and, er, I hope nobody saw that." Jessica said. Sure enough, though, it seemed a couple of people had. The three, noticing this, quickly ran off, and by a happy coincidence, ended up at the PokéCenter. "Phew..." Jessica panted. "Next time... we'll just walk around..." She panted, and dropped into one of the lobby's couches. "So... there's a lot to do here. A Gym, Contest Hall, even a bakery where we can make Poffin. I'm up for anything." Jessica explained, moving herself into a position that was half sitting, half lying down, and all comfortable.

Kal listened to Jessica's proposals, smiling as he realized there was so much to do here. "Be right back," He said, quickly running off to his room to gather his Pok?mon as well as his things. Spinda, Kecleon and Surskit were all asleep under the covers, huddled together. Grinning, Kal snapped a picture quickly with the camera that had come with his laptop. "Wake up, guys!" The three Pok?mon awoke, unhappy until they noticed Kal was back. The three sprung up from the bed and started to circle around their trainer merrily until they were returned to their Pok?Balls. In his rush, Kal ended up tossing Spinda's PokeBall in his laptop bag and Spinda called himself out, his head poking through an unzipped portion.
"Back." Kallen informed his two new friends who were conversing in the lobby. "Um," He started, not sure if he should suggest something, being new to the group. He didn't want the others to think he was bossy or anything. "I'm kinda short on cash..." He noticed the look from Cairo and Jessica and finished his sentence before they spoke. "I'm not asking you for money! I just thought maybe we could go find some trainers to battle. I spent a lot of my money at this cool store last night so..." He said no more as Jessica and Cairo nodded.
"That's cool, haven't had a good battle in a while." Cairo responded, turning to Jessica. Jessica agreed, too, and soon the three gave up their room keys and bid goodbye to Nurse Joy. Spinda gave his thanks, too, but it went unnoticed as Joy didn't usually look at trainer's bags. "This way." Cairo said, being the leader as he knew his way around the city more than the others. Eventually, the three came to a large field in the middle of Hearthome filled with trainers of all ages and regions. Battles were going on left and right and Kal knew it'd be no problem finding an opponent.
"This looks fun." He said to Jessica and Cairo, a smile spreading across his face.

"It does" Cairo said as a rush came over him, "Girafarig, let's go!" Cairo said as a Pokeball was hurled to the air, where it spung, dancing on a cool breeze and glistening in the sunlight until it exploded into white light that simply blended in with the blinding ambient light from above, shielding itself from Cairo's view but revealing one of his best friends. "Hey bud" Cairo said as he smiled and approached his Pok?mon who streched its long neck, then raised it as sealed its eyes blissfully.
"Woah" Kallen said as he watched Girafarig's head smile, and its tail snatch at passing bugs. "I like your Girafarig" A boy approached Cairo saying, brandishing a Pokeball in hand, "Would you like to trade for my..." he said as he sent a flood of light from his hand and to the ground where a Quilava appeared, "Quilava?" He asked before Cairo smiled, "Sorry, not looking to trade" He said as wind guided the blades of grass in the field over his feet, and Girafarig walked against the breeze toward Cairo caressing its head against its trainer.
Cairo laughed along with his friends as the trainer turned to Kallen and began talking, apparently wanting instead to battle with his Quilava. Cairo's heart stopped for a moment at that moment, when a blast of electricty forced itself in a not-so-distant battle. That's when Cairo saw it. A confident looking Minun stood before and unconscious Charizard, and just in front of a familiar face that made his heart fall steeper still.
"Jessica..." Cairo said as she looked to him, where Cairo's head jolted slightly upward, a gesticulation for her to look ahead, where she did, and saw the brown curls of a familiar rival, who as she saw him, caught a glance of his own, and smiled as he took strides toward them after collecting from his opponent.

Kal looked to the boy with the Quilava. It certainly seemed to be a strong Pok?mon, maybe too strong. He felt his confidence fade and accidently refused the battle. The trainer shrugged and headed off. Kal hit himself, mad that he had missed his opportunity. "Next time," He told Spinda. "We'll battle the next trainer we see." He started to walk, trying to find a trainer that wasn't battling. It was a harder task than he thought it'd be. Everyone with Pok?mon was in a battle and Kal stopped to watch a few. Finally, he found someone who looked like they weren't doing anything. Matter of fact, it was two people that weren't doing anything.
"Excuse me," Kal said, tapping the stranger on the shoulder. The trainer stopped talking to the girl he was with and turned around.
"Yeah?" He asked in a friendly tone. He then looked down to Kal's bag and noticed Spinda. "Cool Spinda," He said, releasing his own Spinda in a flash of white. The two Spindas stared at each other, tilting their heads in unison and making odd faces. Kal couldn't help but laugh, it reminded him of how the Spindas back home acted when they noticed one another. "Wanna battle?" The trainer asked before Kal could.
Kal nodded furiously, afraid that if he opened his mouth he might refuse the battle. The other trainer laughed, said something to his girlfriend, and stepped onto the battle field. Kal figured it'd be a bad idea to put Spinda against the other Spinda, as his Pok?mon may hold back, so he instead reached for a different PokeBall. The trainer, probably thinking something similar, started to reach for his belt as well.
The other's girlfriend offered to ref and on her mark, the two through their Pok?Balls. "Kecleon!" Kal shouted, surprised when the other trainer shouted the same exact thing. Both appeared and looked as surprised as their trainers. Oddly, both Kecleon looked to their trainers for approval. Kal nodded. "Slash!" He shouted just after hearing an Ancient Power ordered by his opponent. The two attacks collided and Kal's Kecleon sent some of the thrown rocks back at the other trainers. Both Pok?mon took damage.
Next came another coincidence when the two ordered Shadow Sneak. Both Kecleon's shadows began to extend and they controlled them as a puppet master might a marionette. They struggled to get past each others shadow and to the actual Pok?mon but neither succeeded. Eventually, a cloud passed by on Kal's opponent's side, giving their Kecleon the upper hand and Kal's Pok?mon was struck with the attack. As Kal's Kecleon struggled to his feet he ordered his next attack. "Slash!"
"Bind!"
"Faint Attack!"
Kecleon's tail whipped towards the opposing trainer's Pok?mon but the other Kecleon dissappeared, reappearing behind Kal's Pok?mon and striking it. "Again!" The trainer shouted. The opposing Kecleon started to dissappear and appear when Kecleon wasn't looking, striking with tremendous force each time. Finally, with one last attack, Kal's Kecleon was knocked unconscious.
Kal returned Kecleon with a heavy heart and started to reach for his money. "Nah, it's ok." the trainer said, waving out his hand. "I don't want your money." Kal breathed a sigh of relief and formally introduced himself to the trainer, who did the same.
"Do you know your way around the city pretty well?" Kal asked.
"She does," The trainer responded, pointing to his girlfriend.
Kal smiled. "That's great," He said. "Lemme introduce you two to my friends, I think you'll get along nicely." He searched for a bit before spotting the two and quickly rushed after them, new friends following suit. "Guys!" Kal said to the trainers who had their backs to him. The began to turn around just as Kal spoke. "I'd like you to meet my new friends; Chad Erics and Sarah Chikara!"

"Joel stalked us to Sinnoh?!" Jessica leaked, unfortunately loud enough for him to hear. "No. I came to better myself... if that's possible." He sneered. 'Just as humble as ever...' Jessica thought. "Mai mai!" His Pokémon cried out, triumphantly, seemingly pushing Joel's statement further. Jessica could feel her face begin to get red, signified by an odd amount of heat. One of the people she couldn't stand was right there, the place of what she thought would be an escape.
And then, that's when Kal spoke. Jessica heard him, but her brain chose not to believe it. "Did Kal just say--" Jessica said, before she basically forgot about Joel and turned around. Sure enough, it was who Kal said it was. "H-he's here?!" Jessica whispered. She probably wouldn't have minded another random letter, but this was far different. And Sarah was there, too.
This would be very awkward... that is, if things went well.

Kal's smile faded. Things weren't going as well as he thought they would. Why did Jessica look so surprised? What was with that angry face Cairo was making? It didn't make sense to him. Suddenly, it did. He had been half asleep during his chat that night with Cairo but he suddenly remembered the name of the trainer who had abandoned them, who had broken Jessica's heart and who Cairo had described in a way that made Kal hate the name. Chad Erics. His heart started to pound inside his chest. What had he done? Made a mistake, that's what. He turned to Chad and Sarah, mouth agape. Sarah was trying to avoid the other's gazes, her face bright red. Chad looked just as surprised as anyone. There was a long silence which was broken by Chad. "Jessica," He began, before being interrupted.
"No." Jessica said, tears forming in her eyes. Her face was as red as a Cherubi and her voice was shaking. "No. Chad, get out." The trainer tried to explain himself but he was shot down. "You don't know what it's like..." She began again, crying lightly. "To have everything you live for abandon you..." She was looking to the ground but she quickly turned her head upwards. "I loved you, Chad..." tears rolled down her bright red cheeks. "Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, you say or do can make up for what you-"
"I'm pregnant." Sarah said suddenly. Jessica stopped talking all together, her expression changing. Her mouth struggled with words but Sarah continued. "I just want you to know that Chad is not a bad person. Every day since he left you guys all he's ever done is tell me how much he regrets it. I know if this hadn't happened he would have apologized to you in person but..." Her words trailed off as she began to cry as well. "We're going to keep the baby. My aunt in Snowpoint is going to help with everything... A-and... It's going to be ok..." Chad wrapped his arm around his girlfriend.
"I'm sorry," He said, taking the opportunity to speak. "I would have come back I really would have... I was just afraid. You have no right to forgive me, I understand that. If you never want to see me again I'll leave you alone. I just wanted to..." He looked to Sarah, who was sobbing into his shoulder. "I'm sorry." The two started to walk away but were stopped by Cairo.

Cairo looked at him with one brow raised. Joel stood dormant looking similarly while the others were turned away. "You're an idiot" he said clearly to Chad before he sighed. "Do you seriously want me to forgive you? Forgive you for what? You didn't do anything to me" he told Chad as he looked slightly more confused. "You're gonna keep a kid. How old are you? You ready to give up training? What are you doing with your life, Chad, you're a goddam kid. You're a goddam kid who gave up a life that after you became a master of the battle frontier, and had a girlfriend you were comfortable with, went and hooked up with the girl who had abandoned you before. You remember what that felt like? You remember, Chad?" He asked rheotically as Chad looked on intently, "Because I remember what you felt like after that. I know what you did for me, I know what I did for you, I know Kyleigh and Alison did for you and I know Sarah did for you. More than anything, I know what she did for you" He denounced as his finger was outstreched toward a blushing Jessica. "You know what I think? You shouldn't keep a kid, you shouldn't travel with her anymore, and you should try to make a new life for yourself that could measure up to half of what you once had before you ran from it to exacerbate yours, and ruin ours." He seemed to conclude angrily before taking a downed head upward quickly, "And you" he said to Sarah, "You...quiet girl...Take your Plusle, and your Minun and you Mawile, go to Snowpoint, and live your life way the hell away from me. At this point, I don't care if you go with her Chad." He concluded reaslistically before turning away and guiding a wave at and away from Girafarig, beckoning him forward. "Happy birthday Jessica."
Joel laughed lightly under his breath before stating, "I'll see you guys later...and I will see you..." He walked away, back into the crowd, and after turning to look away from him, Cairo was seen, now further from the scene.

Chad sighed, he had expected this much of a reaction. He knew it was what he deserved. He wanted to say something to Cairo about the way he talked to Sarah but his former friend was already a good distance away. Half of what Cairo said had angered Chad and the other half had made him think. He WAS a kid. This is not how he wanted his life to turn out. When he was younger, that moment he had first layed eyes on Cleffa, had shared his sandwich with it, had taken it in... He had a vision clear in his head of his future. He was a strong trainer with strong Pok?mon at his side, friends from all over, the world in his hands... Just when it had become reality it was gone. What had happened? Chad thought about his child to be. He didn't want his kid's life to be like his. Not like now, anyways. Chad had mixed feelings about everything now. He loved where he was and he hated it at the same time.
Sarah was amazing. Everything he'd ever wanted. He loved his Pok?mon, he loved Snowpoint, he loved his girlfriend and he even loved the idea of having a child. It was early, of course, VERY early, to be having a baby but no matter what future he thought of now he couldn't imagine giving up this child. Chad knew what it was like growing up in a bad household. He knew what it was like to feel unloved. No matter what, he told himself every day, no matter what the cost this child was going to have everything. Spoiled or not, Chad was going to give his child the life he'd always wanted.
"We're going." Chad said to Jessica. "It was nice meeting you Kallen." A flash of light revealed a strong looking Salamence. The Pok?mon looked to its trainer, ready to do anything for him. And then it turned to Jessica. A look of sadness appeared in the Pok?mon's eyes. He remembered her. He remembered what she meant. Chad helped Sarah mount his Pok?mon. Salamence was going to ride slowly, as Sarah couldn't take too much movement-- she was three months pregnant after all. Salamence hesitated, still looking to Jessica. He didn't want to leave her. Chad knew Salamence wished things were as they were before, too. "C'mon Salamence."
With that, the Pok?mon took off. He mostly glided, rather than flapping his wings, but eventually he made it out of their view. Kal felt horrible, like it was his fault things were bad between the trainers. Not knowing what to say, he hugged a still crying Jessica.

It was kind of weird. The hug from Kallen. Yet, it felt nice... very comforting at a time like this. Cairo stood nearby, giving a rather nasty glare at the spot Chad, Sarah, and Salamence disappeared. Jessica couldn't help but be grateful, there was no way she could deal with that herself. Kal relinquished his grip, and she thanked him, and spontaneously latched onto Cairo. "Th-thanks, C-cairo~o." She said through increasing levels of tears. She didn't know why she had decided to thank him this way, but instinct had told her to do it as so. After mere moments, however, it became too awkward to continue. "Uh, s-sorry." She said, and wiped her face off with her new sleeve. Not like it wasn't going to get wet anyways, or if it even mattered. "A-and it's just too b-bad... S-snowpoint would've made a g-great trip." Jessica said, recovering from her crying. She tried to force a laugh, but just couldn't. It was just too serious of a matter, and she really regretted the sad attempt at a joke. Then again, it was the truth... just put out there as a joke.

Cairo took Jessica in his arms once more, restraining emotion. "Forget him" he said sternly, "We'll get to Snowpoint" he paused once more to sniffle, "We've gotta get the badge, gotta" He said as he smiled slightly, simultaneously with Jessica as she too a breath out to allow for the quick shift of emotion. Cairo ran his hand up and down her back softly before bringing himself back, and catching her glance for a second before they both smiled. He leaned slightly, and kissed her forehead softly before relinquishing her all together.
"Guys" Kallen said as he drew closer to his friends, "I'm really sorry" He apologized, vehemently, before Cairo, who's back was turned to the trainer, drew his head toward and began, "it's f-" before being interrupted by a familiar, obnoxious voice. "You guys are pathetic" the overpowering volumes spoke. "Why do you let him pull this on you? Why do you let him make you upset? He screwed up" Joel said sternly as he approached the trainers, "You're pathetic trainers, but no need to add emotional wrecks the the package..." He said with a face affixed with a look of seriousness. "Snap out of it" He said as he drew a Pokeball and beckoned Minun forth, "Or I'll have to".

Kal, still feeling bad about bringing the Chad and Sarah back into Jessica and Cairo's life did something without thinking. "Hey!" He shouted to the trainer who had just returned his Minun. He didn't have a good insult prepared so he bluntly said, "Battle me." The curly haired teen raised a brow before snorting.
"Pathetic." He repeated, drawing a PokeBall from his belt, different from the one he had just put back. Kal was slightly angered that this trainer didn't seem to think he was worthy of fighting his Minun so he decided not to let him fight Spinda or Kecleon, who were both easily his strongest. Surskit couldn't hold her own in a single battle so he grabbed Drowzee's PokeBall and expanded it. "Masqerain." The Pok?mon appeared in a flash of light.
"Drowzee, go!" Kal yelled, throwing his PokeBall and causing it to spin to much and open in a way that made Drowzee appear facing him. The PokeBall spun around Drowzee before coming back to Kal's open palm. Drowzee turned to face his opponent, who was hovering in the air with a determined look on its face. Its Intimidate ability lowered Drowzee's attack but the Pok?mon relied more on Special Attack so Kal wasn't too worried. "Poison Gas!"
"Silver Wind." The gas flew back to Drowzee, who would have been poisoned had the rest of the Silver Wind attack not thrown him back and away from the toxins. Kal swore to himself. Looks like that attack was out of the question for the rest of the battle. "Signal Beam!"
Drowzee hurried to his feet and Kal ordered a Psybeam to block the attack. The two powerful attacks collided and there was a short struggle of power before Joel told Masquerain to take the attack. Momentarily confused, Drowzee hit Masquerain with the attack but the power faded slightly by the Pok?mon's hesitation. Without a second thought Joel ordered a Bubble attack which dealt slight damage to Drowzee. 'Bubble?!' Kal thought. 'Why would a trainer obviously obsessed with strong Pok?mon order a Bubble attack?' He then saw the smirk on Joel's face and clenched his hand into a fist. Without being ordered Drowzee performed a Nasty Plot attack while popping the remaining Bubbles psychicly. It was nice to know someone was calm.
Suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, a Signal Beam attack grazed Drowzee's leg. Kal ordered him to send it back towards Masquerain with Confusion. Unfortunately, Drowzee didn't know Psychic so Confusion had to do. The attack hit and Masquerain studdered slightly. Not for long, though, as it was ordered once more to use Silver Wind. Drowzee couldn't avoid the attack in the beginning but found a large rock to hide behind before the attack was finished. Afterwards, the rock was flung at Masquerain who dodged the attack. Kal ordered Drowzee to send Masquerain to the ground with Confusion. Drowzee obeyed and Masquerain took serious damage.
Another collided Signal and Psybeam later Kal wasn't sure how this match was going to end. So far they were pretty much equal. One slip up and the other one would win, and Kal was afraid that he might be the one to slip up. Luckily, he had realized in this match that Drowzee was a lot more powerful than he had first thought. He wondered if maybe this Pok?mon had been owned previously and released. "Mind Reader." Joel ordered. Kal bit his lip. The Signal beam struck and Drowzee's Psybeam fizzled out. Drowzee stayed on the ground for a while and Kal was afraid he might be unconscious. He got up but Kal realized he didn't want this battle to end with Drowzee knocked out so he returned him and ended the battle. "Hm." Joel said, returning Masquerain and walking away.
Kal turned back to his friends. The battle seemed to have slightly taken their mind off recent events but they were quiet. Neither said anything about the battle and Kal decided not to say anything either. He looked to Drowzee's PokeBall and thanked his Pok?mon before he reduced its size, preventing the Pok?mon from hearing any of the outside world. "Um. I guess we should get going." He suggested. Sure he was low on money but he decided here wasn't a place he wanted to be much longer.

"Oh, how I'd love to give that Joel what was coming to him..." Jessica growled, making a fist and punching her hand. The group had already made some way from the battle site. They hadn't yet picked out where to go, but... they were leaving anyways. "I'm sure we all would... But we just encountered our main reason not to." Cairo reasoned, grabbing Jessica's shoulder. "Yeah, I know... that's why he's alive." Jessica replied, joking... for the most part.
"Well, any ideas yet on where to go?" Kal asked. "Not really..." "Nope." Cairo and Jessica responded, respectively. Kal half sighed, and the three continued on. Cairo likely knew something about their whereabouts, yet there was no apparent leader at the moment. It was simply finding somewhere to go. It took some while, but they reached the outskirts of the city. Without the buildings, a beautiful view of the Coronet Mountain Range, Mt. Coronet itself being prominent. "Ah... Such a wonderful view." Jessica commented, and pulled out her laptop to take a quick, panning video of the visible portion of the mountains. "Well... It's an adventure, right? Right? Maybe we can just go through the mountain!" Jessica declared, pointing ahead towards what could possibly be a cave's entrance. Kal seemed a bit unsure, Cairo smiled and shook his head, and Jessica turned back, to face them. "I mean... you two wouldn't mind, would you?" She asked. "I wouldn't mind an alternative, personally."

Cairo said nothing and Kal said he wouldn't mind going through the mountains so that was the way they went. It was nice, Kal thought, to be in the very mountains he'd heard so much about. Maybe here he could catch a Sinnoh Pok?mon, something he desperately wanted to do. Sure Drowzee was awesome but he wanted to catch a Pok?mon native to Sinnoh, not just catch a Pok?mon IN Sinnoh. Maybe he'd wait a bit, he still hadn't got to know Drowzee much. Which is why Kallen decided to release his newest Pok?mon, as well as all his other ones. Jessica and Cairo had to walk farther away from Kallen now that all his Pok?mon were close to him but they didn't seem to mind.
Kecleon wrapped his tail around Kal's right wrist, Spinda weaved in and out of his legs, Drowzee walked alongside him and Surskit, tired, trotted along behind slightly. It was dark in the cave and, after asking, Kal found out none of his friends Pok?mon knew Flash. "Maybe we should go back." Kallen suggested, relying only on his Pok?dex for light after discovering he was without a flashlight. Surskit started to run ahead and Kal immediately ran after her. Surskit was easily his weakest Pok?mon so he felt protective of her. Then he saw what she was running for.
Not far along was a small pond inside the cave. Something was obviously lit up inside the water because the pond was giving off a soft glow. Surskit was already in the water, or rather walking on top of it. Kal smiled, not just because he loved the way Surskit walked on water but because he loved that they now had light. "Wanna rest for a bit?" Kal asked the others, sitting down beside the water before they answered. He had a bad habit of asuming people would say yes before they actually did. Kal took off his shoes and socks and dipped his feet into the water. He pulled them out quickly as something brushed against his feet and he peered into the water's depth. Smiling back at him was a somewhat large fish Pok?mon. He immediately recognized it as a Lanturn, and noticed others as well as Chinchou, their prevolution and realized that was what was lighting up the pond. "Come look!" Kal yelled to the others. He looked over to his friends and noticed that they were passed out on two nearby rocks. It made sense, Kallen thought, as it was getting late and none of them had slept much that night. He was tired, too, but he wanted to swim before he went to bed. Scared that they might wake up and find him changing, Kal decided to put his bathing suit on behind a rock.
He changed quickly and, silently, he slipped into the luke warm water. It was soothing and he felt the troubles of the day melt away as he sank into the liquid. Kecleon, Spinda and Drowzee joined him but ended up playing with each other rather than Kal. Drowzee retired first, falling asleep on the ground while he dried off. Next, Kecleon passed out and shortly after Spinda fell asleep, too. Kallen played with Surskit for a while until she ended up resting while trying to wake Spinda. Kal found himself surprisingly awake and restless, as well as quite bored. He looked around to see if anyone was waking up but no one was.
"Can't believe I packed a towel and not a flashlight..." He muttered to himself, drying off before changing into his pajamas-- a brownish-red shirt with red plaid pajama bottoms. He had just settled down on a nice comfortable rock and closed his eyes when for the second time that night Kal felt something brush past him. He opened his eyes and looked around, eyes adjusting to the darkness once again. Kal heard a few small splashes and immediately turned towards the water. There, drinking with a large smile on its face, was possibly the cutest Pok?mon Kal had ever seen. Cute, a word he didn't to use often, was really the only thing he could use to describe it. Kal HAD to have it.
His bag was close by so Kal grabbed an empty Pokeball from inside it and expanded it quickly. He tried to sneak up on the Pok?mon but either it had good hearing or he wasn't as sneaky as he thought. The Pok?mon, still maintaining a goofy smile, looked back at Kal and studied him. He knew it was rare, he just KNEW it. For one, it had good hearing, for two it... was cute. He just knew it was rare. "Hi little guy." Kal said, reaching out to pet the Pok?mon, who started to patter around. Kal laughed. "Time to catch you." He decided. A Pok?mon like this didn't come along just anytime. Somewhat violently, Kal thrust the pokeball at the Pok?mon as it passed by and forced it inside. He clamped the ball shut, hoping it'd increase the capture rate and was surprised when there was no struggle. "He must like me already." Kal said to himself, smirking. He quickly scanned the 'Dex entry for his newest addition to his team before falling asleep, Pok?dex and pokeball in hand. He couldn't wait until morning when he could show his friends something he hoped they'd never seen before-- his new Bidoof.

Something woke Jessica. She didn't have a clue what, nor could she recall what exactly woke her up, but she sat up regardless. She had fallen asleep on a slanted rock, something around 45º from the ground. Nearby, she found Cairo and Kallen both asleep. However, the latter was loosely clutching things in both hands... a PokéDex and a PokéBall. "Kal! Kallen!" Jessica spoke, shaking the arm of her new fellow traveler. When he didn't wake, Jessica couldn't resist... curiosity took over. She reached for his PokéBall. Yet, just as she almost got it... his other hand dropped his PokéDex a short distance and grabbed her wrist. He sat up, letting go and picking his PokéDex back up. "You... you weren't going to steal that, were you?" Kal asked, hushed as to not wake Cairo or any of the myriad Pokémon within the cave. "Me? Oh, no, no. Just couldn't resist... I'm curious." Jessica explained, following Kal's suit of quiet. This made him grin. "Why, that's great! I really wanted to show this guy off!" He said, lightly tossing the ball. A small, brown beaver-esque Pokémon now stood between the two. It had a rather 'goofy' expression, a mix of a blank stare and a buck-toothed smile. "Oh, it's cute!" Jessica said, petting its head. "And I'm betting rare, too!" Kal inputted, petting its back. Jessica giggled. "W-what...?" Kal asked, almost seeming offended. "Oh, I'm sorry, it's just... Bidoof is quite possibly Sinnoh's most common Pokémon." She explained, letting out another giggle. Kal appeared almost more offended, so Jessica brought something else up. "But... I actually thought Shinx was rare when I first came here!" She laughed, this was something rather embarrassing. But she figured he might not know what a Shinx was.
OOC: That rock is based off of a real one near my family's cabin... I love it (near a -small- waterfall, too). And yes, in my Japanese Diamond, I though Shinx was rare. Blew four of my five PokéBalls on it (the fifth caught it). XD

Kal didn't in fact know what a Shinx was so he just went silent, staring at his new, not rare Pokémon. The fact that it was so common upset him but he was determined not to lose any of the love he had had for it when he first saw it. "Well, I still like him." Kallen declared, returning Bidoof who had made a dart towards the water. "Besides, I bet if he evolves he won't be so common."
"Actually,"
"No! Don't tell me." Kal didn't want to be dissapointed again that night. He wanted to get off the topic of Bidoof before Jessica spoiled his happiness anymore... "So," He said casually, "You seeing anyone?" He suddenly realized what he had just asked and went red. He had just asked the first thing that popped into his head, why had it been that? "Sorry, I..." Kal stopped mid sentence, realizing he actually wanted to hear the answer.
