(( Don't worry, my first posts are always the longest. They're not usually this gigantic! ^^; ))
Verity Winters had never liked the heat. She just never had. Of course, people would tease her that it was because of her last name, but she knew better. Her fair skin would always get burnt. She would always end up sweating like a madwoman. And hot usually meant summer and summer meant no school.
Basically, for her, hot was turning red as a tomato, stinking like dog, and lazy days that never ended. Not her cup of tea.
Not that she even liked tea.
But either way, under the flaming sun the pounded down on Oldale Town, the new trainer sought protection under the Pok?Mart's awning. The shade relieved some of the stifling discomfort, but it still wasn't ideal. But it was the best thing she had right now. She didn't want to actually go into the Mart, knowing she would probably see something she just "had to have" and end up wasting money. But she had to get going anyway. She had just come into town to visit her grandma, and she had left her grandmother's home a half hour ago.
Time to move on[/i], the blonde thought as she fiddled with her glasses. Get back home. Next stop, Petalburg.
Giving a long sigh as she leaned against the building, Verity lazily picked the pokeball that was furthest up on her belt. Dis-attaching and opening it, as the familiar red light show flashed, she muttered, "Hey, Vivi..."
The Espeon, her best friend and first Pok?mon, materialized. It sat with perfect posture on the patch of dry grass before her, back straight and forked tail swinging slowly back and forth.
"Es..." it murmured as it gave a bored yawn. It lifted a violet paw to quickly scratch its ear.
"Let's go, I guess," Verity announced as she rose from her slouched position. Headed toward the break in the trees that signified the way out of town, Vivi faithfully padded along behind her master.

Vivian walked with the map in her face. Her Umbreon, Oliver, slowly traveled behind her. She had jsut let the Pokémon out to help her find an item hidden behind the dark bushes. Oliver had also helped himself to some berries. Suddenly, Vivian stopped, and fell to the ground. "I'm lost!" She rose from her spot on the ground.
"Oliver, weren't we supposed to head to Mauville city? But it says Oldale Town is up ahead. Well, we might as well stock up on supplies. To Oldale Town!"
Vivian ran to the entrance of the forest, her exit, which led to Oldale Town. The Umbreon ran right behind her and suddenly came to a jerk. Vivian fell to the floor after hitting someone and knocking them over. "Oww. Oops sorry! I didn't mean to hit you! Vivian waited for the girl to rise.

Just as Verity had been rounding the corner of a thick clump of foliage, a figure came bounding out of nowhere. A hurried series of pounding footsteps, dart of black at the figure's heels, and then a shot of pain with a resounding thump.
Next thing she knew, her glasses were flying off her nose in a wide arch and she was watching the sky from her back. The hard and unforgiving dirt path made her skull throb.
"Ug..." she moaned, rising to a sitting position slowly while rubbing the back of her injured head. "What the..." Her vision was hazy and foggy. And blinking a couple of times didn't help. Rising a hand to the bridge of her nose to adjust her glasses, she snatched at nothing but empty air. She panicked for a split second, now useless eyes widening in sudden fear, but a comforting nudge on her shoulder grabbed her attention. A pale, purplish blur was beside her, holding something that looked black but had parts that shined. Oh. Those were lenses glistening. Her glasses.
"Thanks, Viv..." Verity mumbled as she took her glasses with a hesitant hand. After missing the first time, she finally managed to grab the dark frames and slipped them back on. With a flash of annoyance mixed with anger, she rose to her feet.
"Excuse me," she stated simply, her face now all but emotionless. She brushed off some dirt and blades of dead grass from her skirt and the back of her knee-high boots. "But...what just happened?" Her gaze was like lightening, zapping whoever it fell on to the spot. It was currently focused on the new girl and the Umbreon that sat beside her.

Vivian rose and noticed the girl was still in a state of shock. She looked at Oliver and it gaver a simple "not my fault" look. Then Vivian's attention was focused on the girl once again.
"Um, I was running, and not wathcing where I was going. As always. And I seem to have hit you. I am so sorry. Are you ok?
Vivian on arm on her waist. She then felt that her Pok?Balls were missing. After turning in a circle, she noticed they had fallen off her belt after her incident. She took them from the grassy floor and put them back on her belt.
Vivian then turned back to the girl, and noticed the purple Pok?mon standing beside her worried, otherwise known as an Espeon.

As the girl scrounged around on the ground for her Pok?Balls, Verity looked upon the Umbreon beside her. Its pitch black coat had a nice sheen and the yellow patterns had an distinctive, luminescent quality. Its ruby eyes watched her intently as she examined it. From her prior knowledge at the Pok?mon School, Verity was able to identify this Pok?mon as well trained and well cared for.
"Hello," the young trainer said with a faint smile after the other girl had rose from the grass. She held out her hand. "My name is Verity Winters. And that is a nice Umbreon you have there!"

Vivian was surprised by the sudden tone in the girls voice. She figured she would be mad, or sad at the fact she had just bumped in to her. Even thought, Vivian shrugged it off.
"Vivian Leone. And your Espeon is in great shape too. And his name is Oliver. He can be shy at first, but hes harmless."
Vivian gave her smile. "So, where are you headed?"

"Me, Vivi, and the rest of my team are headed to Rustboro," Verity explained, motioning to her Espeon at the mention of the cat like creature's name. "I live there. Just going home after a visit to some family here in Oldale."
With a nod of the head and a faint smile, she asked, "What about you? Where you from and where you headed?"

"Rustboro huh? Well at least you are from here.. Vivian then gave Verity a small smile. She hated telling people where she was from, and why. Even if they didn't ask, she somehow was able to get into the whole Dragon Trainer thing. But besides that fact, she did it anyway.
"To tell you the truth, I am from the Johto Region. Goldenrod City to be exact. I was supposed to take over the Gym in Blackthorn, from my Aunt Claire. But I guess you can say I was a rebel, and my parents told me I could leave if I wanted to. And, after walking and walking looking for a Pok?mon Center, I found myself in Petalburg.
Vivian knew it was a long story, but she hoped the girl wouldn't criticize her on it.

"Wow. Johto. That's some ways away," Verity said. Just as she was about to make another small talk-ish comment, a thought struck her. About what Vivian had said. "Well, luckily there is...wait..."
...Blackthorn? ...Gym?[/i] She was racking her brain for the memories from the book she read last year in school, Gym Leaders of the World’s Regions. I know this... Blackthorn...[/i]
Then it stuck her. Eyes wide, she exclaimed, "Your aunt is the Dragon Master, Claire? Didn't she train under Lance at some point even? You're related to her!? And you were to take over the gym? That place is so...so..." Franticly searching for the right word, gesturing wildly with her hands, she finally spouted out, "So prestigious!" A new sort of awe settled on her. "So...I imagine...your Pok?mon are quite strong, huh?"
No match for mine...measly level 20...[/i] she thought miserably.

Vivian watched the girl with her face looking like someone just shot her. Verity actually thinks its cool. She must be really smart if she knows about Johto, even if she was born in Hoenn.
"Yea. I didn't really want just dragon Pok?mon. So I decided to train others. My Umbreon was actaully the second Dark type Pok?mon to be found in Johto, where the type originated."
She tried to remember the other thing's Verity had said.
"And my Aunt, Claire, she didn't train under lance. He trained under her. I would actually have to watch some of their practice sessions. Then he left and became a fancy Elite Four member."
Vivian was angered at the fact he went and became something higher than her teacher. But, Vivian didn't think Claire would leave the Gym anyway.
"And my Pok?mon? Well Nina and Oliver, who are Dragonair and Umbreon, are at 36. Bell, Bayleef, is at 29."
