[[Continued from the Streets of Goldenrod topic]]
Crazylegs sat stalwart amidst a crowd of laughing female trainers. "He wants to challenge the gym!" Shouted one with glee. They were all laughing uncontrollably, and it only got worse when she said that. Cross-armed and straight-faced, the wheelchair-bound Hitmonlee gave them ample time to calm down and gather themselves, but they didn't.
Then, in a wave of telepathic energy, a resounding "ENOUGH" rang out in every nearby mind, and the Hitmonlee's heel was sticking through the ground, dividing the trainers to either side of his leg- if they were in between, or if Hitmonlee had lost control the slightest bit, he may have been responsible for murder. All that time meditating did wonders for his strength, but he had yet to regain total control of his two lower limbs.
"Where is gym reader?" he asked the crowd, who, recently terrified, began to laugh at him again upon hearing his "accent".

Companion the Gardevoir, or "Cam" as she is often called, could feel the snark radiating from the gym trainers as she stood patiently behind Crazy Legs' chair clutching the black sleeve on her arm. It left her feeling ill, as it conflicted with her feelings for crippled Hitmonlee. She started to tune the trainers out and found herself synching with Crazy Legs. She could feel his forced calm and rising indignation, building up and eventually erupting in an emotional outburst that left a hole in the floor. She then sprung forward and steadied him to make sure he didn't fall over too quickly as she attempted to gently guide him back into his seat.
Whatever control Crazy Legs had over the crowd was lost when spoke again in his broken English. Their insensitivity was beginning to irritate her personally. She let go of Crazy Legs, stood up straight and addressed the crowd.
"He said ENOUGH!" Cam exclaimed, the last word punctuated with a psychic pulse that all but knocked everyone off their feet and moved stationary objects away by about an inch. The wave itself made her anger quite apparent, and the ticked-off Gardevoir was sure to be seen as a greater threat than a wheelchair bound Hitmonlee, especially since she spoke so eloquently. "We're here for a gym badge, and if there's something outright hilarious about that I'd like it explained to me right now!"
"What's going on out here?"
The door to the gym's office had opened and out stepped an incredibly pretty young woman with short, red hair wearing a white short-sleeved tunic and shorts, both with red trim. She quickly approached the group with a look of vague concern.
"I heard someone shouting and there was this weird shockwave," the young woman continued. "Is everyone alright?"
"I'm sorry, that was me," Cam replied, scratching the back of her head with her black-sleeved arm. "My friend and I wanted to challenge the gym, and these girls just laughed at us."
"Oh, wow, a talking Gardevoir!" the young woman exclaimed.
"Um, thanks?" Cam replied awkwardly.
"Oh, I'm sorry," the young woman said with a little giggle. "So is your trainer around?"
"No," Cam replied blankly. "He's dead."
"Um, oh," the young woman replied gamely. "Sorry." After a moment of awkward silence, a look of recognition sprung onto her face. "Your name wouldn't happen to be Companion, would it?"
Cam was stunned. "Yes, it is."
"I remember seeing you on the contest circuit a while back," the young woman continued. She stepped forward and took Cam's unsleeved hand. "I heard about what happened on the flying battleship. I'm so sorry for your loss."
"It's okay," Cam said, putting a hand on the young woman's hand. "It's been rough, but I'm healing. I'm hoping this new journey will help me."
"That's good to hear," the young woman said with a smile. "I'm Whitney, by the way. I'm the gym leader here."
"You are?" Cam replied excitedly. She gripped Whitney's hands tighter as she drew closer, her eyes shimmering like jewels. "I'm Companion but you know that already but everyone calls me Cam and this is Crazy Legs and he wants to be Pok?mon Champion and I'm helping him and we want to challenge your gym because we're kind of a team..."
"Okay, okay, just slow down and breathe, okay?" Whitney said with a nervous laugh. "I was going to ask if I could do anything to help, but I guess you beat me to it."
"So you'll battle us?" Cam asked.
"Of course," Whitney answered. "It's kinda my job anyway. I don't think there's anything in the rules that says you need a human trainer, but if there was I'd gladly make an exception." She peered around Cam and looked at Crazy Legs. "If you feel you're up to it, that is."
"Oh, he's ready," Cam noted. "I could barely keep up with him on the way here."
"But," one of the other trainers interrupted, "They're not..."
"The gym challenge is open to all contenders," Whitney recited to her, "Regardless of race, creed, or species." She turned back to Cam with a smile. "And if you haven't registered yet, I'd be happy to help out."
"Thank you," Cam smiled back. "But don't go too easy on us during the battle. We're a lot tougher than we look."

Adel stood quietly as both Crazy and Cam spoke to the humans. It was no surprise to the Eevee at how they reacted. He had met skeptical and mean people before in his travels. Having been brought up with anything being a possibility, it was difficult for Adel to understand how people couldn't be open to Pok?mon talking, much less wanting to fight. As they walked past the trainers who scoffed at them, he fired a powerful Shadow Ball at the ground by their feet.
"Cam, let me fight first. I want to show you guys what I really can do. And I bet double meals tonight that I can beat all of her team by myself!" His eyes should a renewed courage and confidence Adel hadn't felt in days. His heart was ready to battle and show how strong he really was.

Crazylegs forced his way to the front of his team, right up to Whitney, the gym leader. "Register me as trainer. Prease. I become great leader some day, win league championship." All of this was communicated to the gym leader telepathically. It all made sense, he'd have to be the last to fight, due to his obvious disability.
Also, in a sort of telepathic whisper, Crazy Legs told Aoshi to stand down, and wait for the battle.

"Okay, please walk, erm," Whitney stammered slightly, adjusting her statement for Crazy Legs' sake. "Please follow me."
Whitney led them into her office, where she had them fill out the standard forms. Since no one really cares about that stuff, we'll skip it and go right to the main attraction: The Gym Battle! Whitney stood at one end of the court while Crazy Legs sat at the other, his teammates at his side. One of the girls from before stood on the sidelines between them as referee.
"This will be a three-on-three Pok?mon battle," the referee noted. "Between the Gym Leader Whitney and the challenger Crazy Legs. Each trainer is allowed three Pok?mon (including themselves apparently), but only the challenger is allowed substitutions*."
"I hope you're ready!" Whitney declared as she tossed out a PokeBall. "Go, Clefairy!"
The PokeBall popped open an a Clefairy appeared in a flash of white light. The Clefairy had her game face on, but soon changed to a confused look when she couldn't find an opposing trainer. Unusual for a Gym Match, but it hasn't stopped her from fighting wild Pok?mon before. Disregarding the oddity, her expression became serious again and she raised her stubby arms in a ready stance.
((*By "substitutions," she means you can switch out Pok?mon before they get knocked out.))
