"Do you think possible... for me to become... trainer?" Heard a nurse, stopping by Crazy Legs' room to change his sheets, when he had returned early from physical therapy. She dropped the sheets she was holding, and the wheelchair rolled smoothly into the room.
"You said... anything possible with enough heart. I think I have enough heart... to be great trainer." Now, this was more interpreted than heard, as the Hitmonlee rarely spoke, but through months of meditation, he has learned to commune telepathically.
"I... I'm not sure if that's entirely legal, but I think it's definitely worth looking into if it's something you truly believe in. You are well over ten years old, yes?"
"My bed sign says... I seventeen, no? I rearn to read in my stay here." He glided over to the window, to look outside at the setting sun. "That is the onry requirement I rearn of." He turned to look at her with his very sharp eyes. "I want... to be a champion."

Companion the Gardevoir peeked into Crazy Legs' room. She had been stalking him since she came here. Watching him go through rehabilitation was inspiring to her. Companion's disability had been more emotional than physical, but since her trainer died she needed all the support she could get. She never got up the nerve to talk to Crazy Legs until now, but just being close enough to sense his emotions was enough to give her the boost she needed to get through another day. She felt a sort of kinship with him, but she couldn't tell if he even knew she existed. She wasn't one to delve into another's personal thoughts without permission.
Hearing what Crazy Legs said just now made her heart skip a beat. He wanted to become a Pok?mon trainer? That was just so awesome. She had recently came to a similar decision, to become a coordinator. Her trainer had been one, and she felt a certain longing to be on the contest stage once again. But she was apprehensive, unsure if she could go at it alone. A Pok?mon training Pok?mon was a rare sight at best. But if she had someone with her, someone she could trust to back her up...
"Can I... come with you?" Companion asked, stepping into the room. She shyly gripped the black stocking she wore over one arm. Her English was much better than that of the Hitmonlee in the wheelchair before her. "I... I want to be a Pok?mon Coordinator. If it's alright with you, I'd like to travel with you."
"Cam, are you sure you're ready to leave?" the nursed asked her.
Companion nodded, "Doctor Kudzu says I can leave any time once I get up the nerve."

"If you the one watched over me, berieved in me, yes," broadcasted Crazy Legs telepathically. "I sirentry watch back in meditation, but never see you face. I go with you if you go with me, no?"
With his eyes firmly shut, he rotated smoothly in his wheelchair, then began to stand up slowly. His legs had healed, but it took a great deal to control them as of yet. As he stood, one remained about three inches longer than the other, but it was thoroughly curved, making his body almost level. "I not beat Gordenrod Gym arone."

Companion smiled excitedly at Crazy Legs' reply. Her heart was all a flutter. Hearing those words made her want to jump for joy It was all she could do from zipping up to him and huggin him.
When he stood up, she and the nurse darted to his side. He was clearly still a little weak in the knees, so to speak, so naturally they wanted to help him stand. They only barely supported him - "spotting" would probably be the correct term, as they were more in position to catch him than actually keeping him up. Companion could've done this psychically, of course, but she could do this less obtrusively with her arms.
"My name is Companion, by the way," she said. "But everyone calls me Cam."

"I am fine, thank you for concern." He let himself fall abruptly back into his wheelchair. It was safer for those around him if he stayed in it- for Pok?mon, meditation raised their physical attack strength, and Crazy Legs spent more time in meditation than asleep. That, combined with his still loose-grip on the control of his legs, caused much harm to the rehabilitation clinic. Besides, he probably had the strongest arms of any Hitmonlee in the world thanks to his months of being propelled primarily by them.
"Cam... it is nice name." He turned to the nurse. "May I be rereased with Cam as guardian?"
The nurse was used to surprising questions by now. "I... I don't know of any rules against it, so, if Cam can sign for you, I think it'll be perfectly legal."
"Sankyuu very much." Crazy Legs excitedly wheeled himself out of the room, barely avoiding a pair of Chanseys that were making their rounds. He sped all the way to the front desk, and waited their with great anticipation.
His days of freedom were here once again.

Cam chased after Crazy Legs, swerving around one of the Chanseys with an elegant spin. In no time, she was at his side again by the front desk. The nurse there greeted them warmly.
"We're ready to go!" Cam declared.
"The both of you?" the nurse asked.
"Yeah," Cam replied. "I'm going to be his guardian."
"Seriously?" the nurse noted. A smile stretched across her face. "That's awesome. Doctor Kudzu already authorized your dismissal. I just need your signa... Wait, you can write, right?"
"Of course," Cam said, picking up a pen and signing the papers. "I was taught to read and write when I was taught to speak. It makes things easier, or at least that's what..."
Cam suddenly stopped. She looked down at the papers, to which she had written her name and her former trainer's family name. She seemed stunned for a moment.
"Are you okay?" the nurse asked.
"Yeah, yeah," Cam replied, handing back the papers and the pen. "I just realized it's been so long since I even thought about him. It's just a little unsettling."
"Well, at least you're not breaking down into a quivering mass of tears," the nurse said.
"Hey, don't say stuff like that," Cam said. "My fragile psyche might not be able to handle it."
"I'm just saying it's a major improvement over how you've were when you first arrived," the nurse said with a shrug. "You've come a long way, and we're all proud of you. Both of you. Oh, by the way..."
The nurse reached beneath the desk and brought up a duffel bag.
"Your trainer's family sent you this starting kit," the nurse continued. "Just your standard equipment, but the trainer card on the Pok?dex is blank. You'll have to register at the gym for it to be official."
"Cool," Cam said, rooting through the bag. She fished out a Pok?Gear and secured it to her gloved wrist. Then she slung the bag over her shoulder.
