Twin Leaf is a small town, and it's Pok?mon Center is small, too. Nevertheless, it covers all the basic ammenities. The waiting room has several comfy couches, a magazine rack, and a couple computer terminals and video phones. The front desk sits on the side opposite the front automatic doors, and behind the desk is the Healing Machine that can take care of the usual bumps, bruises, and status conditions that may be inflicted upon a Pok?mon. For more serious problems, the operating room is behind the door just to the right of the desk. To the left of the desk is another door leading to bed rooms reserved for Pok?mon trainers.
Nurse Joy was sitting behind the desk, checking her e-mail on the computer, when the door on the left opened with a bang. What appeared to be a smaller version of herself, albeit wearing jeans and a sweatshirt, bolted through it with a small, pink, egg-shaped Pok?mon waddling behind her as quickly as it was able.
"Hi mom bye mom," the girl said on her way to the front door.
"Happiny!" her Pok?mon called out.
"Minnie, wait!" Nurse Joy called out, standing behind her desk. "You're forgetting something!"
The girl and her Happiny skidded to a stop just short of the doors and backpedalled over to the desk.
"I am?" Minnie asked, jogging in place. She looked up, placing a finger on her cheek as as she thought. "I don't think I'm forgetting anything..."
Nurse Joy walked around her desk holding something behind her back. She knelt down in front of Joy and handed her a large box with a red cross on it.
"I assembled a field kit for you in case something should happen and you're too far away from a Pok?mon Center," Nurse Joy said. Minnie took the box and opened it. "It contains all the healing items you'll ever need, plus some emergency supplies like bandages and scalpels for when a simple medical spray isn't going to cut it. You do remember your emergency training, don't you?"
"Yeah, mom," Minnie replied. She closed the box and shoved it into her backpack. "You know, most trainers just get a Potion when they head out."
"Most trainers wouldn't know a syringe from a scalpel," Nurse Joy replied, standing with her hands on her hips. "You're lucky your momma's Nurse Joy. Now you're ready for anything."
"I sure am," Minnie said. Happiny jumped onto her shoulder. They both gave Nurse Joy a mock-salute. "Well, we're off. See ya!"
"One more thing, little lady," Nurse Joy said. She knelt back down and gave Minnie a big hug. "I just want you to know that I'll always love you, no matter what you do."
Minnie blushed. "Aw, mom. You make it sound like I'm going to do something terrible."
"Just the same," Nurse Joy said in a sympathetic tone. "Try not to get yourself hurt, okay? At least not too badly. Just make sure no one else gets hurt."
"Don't worry about me, mom," Minnie said as she turned to leave. "I'm INVINCI-" She was interrupted as her big toe hit the leg of one of the couches. "Ow! Ow, ow, ow..." Minnie limped off towards the exit. "I'm fine. It's nothing. I can walk it off. Ow."
"Oh, that daughter of mine," Nurse Joy sighed, shaking her head.
