I'm homesick for a city to where I've never been.

Ugh. If anyone cares, I'm still alive out here. We had a storm come through and knock out the Internet for a month and a half. Hopefully, I'll be ready with more activity in the next several days. I'm sorry about the sudden disappearance, but I'm not sure it's going to be unussual here in the Philippines.

My parents are going to ground me from the computer until my grades start to rise. It might be a few weeks.

I apologize for being away so long. I didn't think it would take so long, and I really should've said something before I left.
Anyway, last December I planned to stay at my Grandmother's house for a month. Since this forum tends to be a bit slow, I didn't think anybody would miss me. She had DSL, but I didn't want to have to use Google to log in. Then, towards the end of the month, my Dad (who I still live with, in case your forgot) sent me a text message saying he had put my computer into storage (rented locker storage) and was not going to give it back until I got a job. I probably should've dropped you guys a line then, but since I also got a call from the county government saying they were going to hire me, I figured it'd only take another week before I could go on-line from home again.
Edit: (If this is confusing, that's because this was originally posted to a Usenet forum)
Unfortunately, I wasn't that lucky. All I got from them was a "Temporary, Part-time, on-call position," meaning I'd be lucky if I got to work for more than a couple days a month (both of which was last week, during the California primaries). While I considered this to technically be a job, my dad wasn't going to settle for anything less than full-time employment. Determined to not learn any lesson of the sort, I pretty much just hung around the house until last week. Since there was no convincing dad that this was a misguided and insufficient attempt to spur me into action (as far as he's concerned, my "reward" for reaching any intermediary step is not being kicked out of the house), I have decided to access the internet from more public sources.
Internet cafes are out. I only managed to find two in my area, any they only have a handful of computers. One didn't have chairs in front of the computers (except for the handicapped-access one) and the other charged eight bucks an hour. The nearest public library only gives me an hour's worth of access, and charges guests five bucks an hour (on the plus side, they do have manga there). Just today I tried the local community college's computer lab, but you can't log on without an account and you can't get one unless you're a student (I graduated last year, and haven't registered for classes since then). Fortunately, said college's library has plenty of internet computers, but at the moment each and every one is being used. I had to wait a while for one to open up. Access appears to be unlimited, so I may have all the time I need. Unless a librarian sees what I'm doing a kicks me off.
So, I don't know what I want to do at this point. I have to change up my methods, but I'm pretty sure my job search process will remain largely unaltered. The difference being I'll use my on-line resources to figure out who is hiring and go there directly to see if I can get the menial jobs they're not advertising. In that regard, I'm sure my dad's meddling has only slowed down the process. If he wants me to be able to live on my own before he retires in three years, I doubt throwing me to the wolves is going to expedite things. Quite frankly, I'm too fat and slow to outrun them.
The thought occurs that I could give you his e-mail address so you all can give him your opinions on the matter directly. However, I'm sure that would only irritate him, and wouldn't cast me in a good light. I also forget what it is.
Oh, and I haven't read my e-mail yet. Not since the first week of January. I'll take a look when I feel more confident about how much time I have.

Yeah. I've been out of it lately. Yikes. Me and TGC are in the same boat. (PS-were brothers, so ya). Just got on, since it's a snowday and all. Just hoping that nothing very large happened while I was gone, and stuff. I was on my forum doing stuff. But I'm back!
